Igloo Mag review : Fifteen tracks total with remix support including Wankers United, Kindohm, Mesak, and Luke Vibert—Poborsk releases fragmented glitch funk on Plus Minus for the ever dependable Kaer’Uiks imprint. A staple in the IDM/funk scene since 1999, his latest is an overarching sonic achievement.

Here we find an ultra wide assortment of downtempo goods (ref. “Slice Step”) and intoxicating sound design where rhythmic electronics merges with sliced and diced melodic moments. Poborsk doesn’t hold back either, when tracks like “Hydragyrum,” “Tension,” and “Note” shed their drone like spheres to break the ice, new-school Autechre fans will certainly gravitate towards these futurist clicks’n cuts. The Phoenecia-inspired “Magnesium Chant” and “Wasabit Flanger” glide by effortlessly with organic and electroacoustic dust slivers, looping half drums, and found sounds that subtly squeak by. Wankers United reworks the shapeshifting “Photoresistance” with a downtrodden sheen, Kindohm takes “Magnesium Chant” through distilled and elongated time stretches while Mesak repolishes the same track with an effervescent upbeat glow. The already tranquilized and abstract foray of “Rubber” is re-tuned by none other than Luke Vibert who offers his unique beat-infiltrated aura, vocodered robotic magma, and simply unleashes the inner core of this already blissful tune.
